The Waves Keep Coming
Sitting here on Virginia Beach, listening to the waves crash, I'm reminded of one simple truth: God has been good.
There's something about the ocean that puts things in perspective. The waves don't ask permission. They don't wait for the right moment. They don't stop because conditions aren't perfect. They just keep coming. One after another. Relentless. Consistent. Faithful.
And standing there listening to them, I thought about how much that sounds like God.
Through Every Season
Through every high and every low, His faithfulness keeps showing up. Just like these waves.
There have been seasons in my life where I couldn't see what was coming next. Seasons where the path wasn't clear, the resources weren't there, and the vision felt bigger than the reality I was standing in. Seasons where I was tired. Seasons where I wondered if I was on the right track.
And in every single one of those seasons, His goodness kept showing up anyway.
Not always in the way I expected. Not always on the timeline I wanted. But it kept coming. Wave after wave after wave.
That's what faithfulness looks like. It doesn't always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like one more provision when you needed it. One more open door when the last one closed. One more reason to keep going when you were ready to stop.
The waves keep coming. And so does His goodness.
Gratitude Is a Practice
I've learned that gratitude isn't something that just happens to you when everything is going well. It's something you have to choose. It's a practice. A discipline. A decision to look for what God has done instead of fixating on what hasn't happened yet.
That morning on the beach, I chose gratitude.
Not because everything was perfect. Not because every question had been answered. But because when I looked back at the road I'd traveled, the evidence was undeniable. He had been faithful. He had been good. And if He had been good before, I had every reason to trust that He would be good again.
Gratitude doesn't require a perfect life. It requires an honest look at a faithful God.
Nothing Stopping Them Right Now
The waves don't stop. That's the thing about them. You can't negotiate with them. You can't slow them down. You can't convince them to take a break. They just keep coming, one after another, with a consistency that no human effort could manufacture.
That's the kind of faithfulness God operates in.
Not conditional. Not seasonal. Not dependent on whether you've got it all together. His goodness keeps coming whether you're at your best or your worst. Whether you're on the mountaintop or in the valley. Whether you feel worthy of it or not.
Today, I'm simply grateful.
For the waves. For the reminder. For a God whose goodness doesn't run out.
The waves keep coming. And so does His goodness.
That's enough for today.
