There Is Hope in This Generation. Don't Give Up on Them.

Every generation gets written off by the one that came before it.

Too soft. Too distracted. Too entitled. Too online. Too sensitive. Too far gone.

We have been saying versions of this for centuries. And every time, the generation that was supposed to be the end of everything turned out to be the beginning of something.

This generation is no different.

What You Are Actually Seeing

When you look at young people today and feel frustrated, I want to offer you a different frame.

You are not watching a generation that does not care. You are watching a generation that was handed a world that told them their worth is in their appearance, their follower count, their performance, their output, and their ability to keep up with a pace that was never designed for human beings.

They did not build that world. They were born into it.

They grew up with comparison baked into every platform they opened. They were marketed to before they could think critically about what they were being sold. They were told to find their passion, build their brand, and monetize their identity before they even knew who they were.

And then we look at them and wonder why so many of them are anxious, lost, performing, and empty.

That is not weakness. That is the result of a world that gave them everything except what they actually needed.

What They Are Actually Looking For

Here is what I have seen working with young leaders, builders, and people who feel unseen.

They are not looking for another platform. They are not looking for another influencer. They are not looking for someone to hand them something easy.

They are looking for someone who will tell them the truth. Someone who has been through something real and is still standing. Someone who sees them, not the version they perform online, not the resume, not the highlight reel, but the actual person underneath all of it.

They are hungry for identity. For purpose. For someone to look them in the eye and say: you were not a mistake. What you are carrying matters. And you have something the world needs.

That is not a generation that has given up. That is a generation that is waiting for someone to believe in them before they fully believe in themselves.

The Cost of Writing Them Off

When we write off a generation, we do not just lose them. We lose what they were carrying.

Every person who never found their footing had something inside them that the world needed. Every young man who was told he was too much or not enough and never recovered from it. Every young woman who performed her way through life and never knew what it felt like to be truly seen. Every teenager who went looking for identity in all the wrong places because none of the right ones felt safe enough to enter.

We cannot afford to write them off.

Not because they are perfect. Not because they have it figured out. But because the alternative is a future built by people who were never shown what it means to lead from identity instead of performance. And we have seen what that produces. We have lived it. Some of us are still trying to unlearn it.

What It Actually Takes

You do not have to have all the answers to show up for this generation.

You have to be willing to be present. To listen more than you speak. To tell the truth about your own story, including the parts that did not go the way you planned, because that honesty is what creates the opening for them to be honest too.

You have to be willing to see them before they have proven anything. To invest before there is a guaranteed return. To stay in the room when it gets hard instead of walking away when the role gets inconvenient.

That is what it means to be a leader. Not having the perfect answer. Being the person who does not leave.

There Is Still Time

If you have a young person in your life who feels lost right now, I want you to hear this.

Lost is not the same as gone.

Searching is not the same as failing.

Struggling is not the same as broken.

Some of the most powerful people in the next generation of leaders are the ones who look the most uncertain right now. Because the uncertainty means they are still asking the right questions. They have not settled. They have not stopped looking. They have not convinced themselves that the mask is who they really are.

They just need someone to stay with them long enough to help them find the answer.

Maybe that someone is you.

What SEEN. Was Built For

The SEEN. Movement exists for every person who has ever felt invisible. That includes the young ones. Especially the young ones.

Because the wound of feeling unseen does not wait until adulthood to do damage. It starts early. In the classroom. In the home. In the moment a child looks up to see if someone noticed and nobody did.

SEEN. says: you were always visible. Not to the algorithm. Not to the crowd. To God. To the story that was written before you showed up. To the people who are willing to look past the performance and into the person.

Identity before performance. In this generation. In the next one. In the one after that.

Do not give up on them.

The generation you almost wrote off might be the one that changes everything.
