When a Book Arrives With a Handwritten Note
Today I received a special package from my brother in Christ, Louie Alessio.
Before I even read the first chapter, I was impacted by the care, intentionality, and personal message inside.
The handwritten note. The prayer card. The encouragement.
It reminded me that books are more than words on paper. They are pieces of someone’s testimony, faith journey, and calling.
Authors Supporting Authors
Louie sent me a copy of So, There I Was… Out of Ammo. As a veteran, author, and man of faith, I could already tell before reading a single page that this was going to be a powerful read.
The cover. The message. The heart behind it.
But honestly? The handwritten note may have been my favorite part.
In a world of quick transactions, automated messages, and digital everything — a handwritten note still carries weight that nothing else can replicate. It says: I thought about you specifically. I took the time. You matter enough for this.
That’s not a small thing. That’s kingdom work.
What Happened a Few Days Later
A few days after receiving the book, I reached out to Louie again.
I had someone in my life who was dealing with something serious — suicidal thoughts. And something told me that Louie’s book was exactly what this person needed to read.
Without hesitation, Louie shipped another copy. Urgently. No questions asked. Just a brother in Christ responding to a need the moment it was presented.
That’s what real brotherhood looks like.
Not a transaction. Not a favor to be repaid. Just a man who understood that his story — his testimony — might be the thing that helps someone else hold on.
This Is Why We Write
There’s something powerful about men of faith who use their stories to help others find hope in theirs. That’s what Louie is doing with Out of Ammo. That’s what the SEEN Movement is doing with the SEEN. book (coming July 2026).
